Paul L. Solano, PhD
Chair, University of Delaware, Institutional Review Board solano@udel.edu Paul Solano, PhD, has 30 years of experience in health economics, public finance, cost benefit analysis, and econometrics. Dr. Solano teaches courses in cost benefit analysis, taxation, and advanced statistics and is the Chair of the University's Institutional Review Board. Mary Joan McDuffie, MA Senior Research Associate mcduffie@udel.edu Mary Joan McDuffie has over twenty years experience in data management, SAS and SPSS stastistical programming and statistical modeling, Access database development, and GIS. Mary Joan also provides workshops and classroom instruction to professionals and University of Delaware graduate students.
Katie Gifford, MS, PhD Candidate
Research Assistant
Katie graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S.in Mechanical Engineering. After workingfor DuPont ‘s Packaging & Industrial Polymers business in technical supportand Six Sigma for over two years, she returned to UD and graduated with a M.S. inFood & Resource Economics. At UD, shehas seven years experience as a Research Associate, focusing primarily on the elicitation of consumer willingness to pay using surveys and experimental auctions, SAS for data analysis, and journal article and grant writing.
Abobaker Mused, MA, PhD Candidate
Research Assistant
Abobaker gradudated from Hunter College, CUNY with Bachelor and Master degrees in Economics. He has experience with statistics using STATA, SAS, and SPSS and is currently assisting in teaching a statistics lab. As a Graduate Research Assistant, he is working on dental health problems of the disabled population in Delaware, as well as a travel cost study on substance abuse treatment programs in Delaware. His other research interests include political and economic development in developing countries through effective governance and policy implementation.
Ewelina Jansson, BA, MA Candidate
Graduate Research Assistant
Ewelina Jansson graduated from the University of MassachusettsAmherst with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science. As a research assistant she is focusing her research on the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and plans to continue her research on the dental health of people in Delaware with disabilities. She is also developing her statistical analysis skills via SAS and SPSS.
Administrative support, as well as substantive expertise in other policy areas, is available to the HSPRG through colleagues at the Center for Community Research & Service, a number of academic and professional staff employed by or affiliated with the School of Public Policy and Administration, and throughout the broader University community.
